Class fees are $75 for TKGA/CGOA members and $95 for non-members for each three hours of classes selected up to nine hours; after nine hours, the fees are on a discounted sliding scale (see table below).

Description: Continental Knitting is well known as a faster more efficient way to knit. Utilized in parts of Europe as well as the United States it is often envied by people who knit American Style. It is essential for Fair Isle Knitting when using 2 colors at a time, one in each hand. Knitting, purling, ribbing, decreases such as Knit 2 together and Slip, Slip, Knit, and increases such as Knit in the front and the back of a stitch and Make One will be shown. A discussion of when to use Continental Knitting as opposed to American Style Knitting as well as the value in learning the new technique. This class has been one of the most popular classes to date. It is always well received with people who have never been able to master the techniques.

Description: Intarsia knitting is not only beautiful but challenging, often leading to frustration if it is not done properly. Holes are a common side effect of intarsia done incorrectly. This class will cover winding bobbins, either plastic or butterflies and when it isn't necessary to use bobbins. How to prevent holes when 2 colors meet, and how to take care of all the ends one acquires when working with multiple colors. While working on a small swatch in class utilizing the graph provided the different problems will be discussed and how to handle them. Graph reading will be covered and the differences between Fair Isle graphs and Intarsia graphs.

Description: Design a colorwork hat, running as mad as you wish with your favorite yarn and colors! Creating your own design can be daunting with all the choices there are to make. In this fun and creative approach, you will establish simple rules to follow which will help you to make those choices. This simple hat project will open your mind to the many possibilities of charted colorwork. As a Mad Hatter, you will produce your own hat pattern, incorporating a stranded colorwork chart you create in class. Choose the design elements, draw a chart, and do some simple math. Supplies to Bring: 1. Graph paper, maybe 8 or 10 squares to the inch. 2. Gauged or proportioned knitter's grid, any gauge. 3. Pencils (preferably in several colors) and eraser. 4. Pocket calculator. 5. Any issue of Vogue Knitting before Spring 1991 but after '84. Again, if you can't find one, I'm sure one of your fellow students will share.
Description: There are many patterns from yarn companies, magazines and books available, but you want to change the neckline, lengthen the sleeves, etc. In this class you'll find out how to successfully personalize the fit of a pattern and cater it to yourselves or those you knit for. See how small alterations can make a garment hang better. Learn accessible alternatives for drop shoulders. You'll learn simple refinements and easy modifications that don't require extensive pattern re-writes, but will produce great results. Please note that this is not a "change the pattern to be another size" class.

Description: I found that knitting with copper wire can be an extremely interesting way to create "artful" knitting. The wire is really easy to knit with on a size 4 knitting needle. The finer the gauge the easier the wire is to work with. Creating home décor items or jewelry is simple with the wire and a few basic tools and supplies that we don't normally carry in our knitting bags. In this 3 hour class the student will knit a bracelet or a small piece of jewelry using the wire. The techniques for finishing off the wire, adding in new wire, and creating shapes will be covered. I found that knitting with copper wire can be an extremely interesting way to create "artful" knitting. The wire is really easy to knit with on a size 4 knitting needle.

Description: Class will cover the ins and outs of dyeing pre-knit fabric (or blanks) using non-toxic food-grade dyes. These pre-knit blanks are then unraveled as you knit or crochet for one of a kind socks, mittens, hats, scarves and so much more. We'll even determine the spacing to dye blanks or yarn for self-patterning and jacquard designs.

Supplies to Bring: Bring three contrasting colors of yarn for either hat or small bag, 50 grams should be enough, also 16" needle to accommodate your yarn. If you are planning on felting, please make sure it is 100% wool or a wool blend that will felt. For larger bag, I would recommend 100 grams of each color. As stitch marker.
Description: In this fun class, the mystery of Entrelac will finally be removed. You will be delighted to learn how easy it is, once you have been shown how to knit backwards! You can chose a small or large bag, to felt or not; as well as a hat, again to felt or not. The look of an entrelac knit garment has the appearance of being very difficult, when in reality it is not! Description: Many times what happens at the end is greatly influenced by what happened at the start. In the case of knitting, this is particularly true. Decisions we make starting with the cast on selection and on through the knitting of the project greatly influence the look of the final project. Start by learning the pros and cons of decisions we make in the knitting of a garment. Next, gain hands-on experience developing skills we typically associate with "finishing". Finally, get answers on fixing problems "after it is too late". Strong knitting skills and basic garment construction experience required.

Xeroxing the crocheted results would also be helpful. OR, xerox the pattern from the picture in the book or stitch dictionary (if small, try to enlarge to real-life size). 5. Needle, thread and scissors. 6. OPTIONAL: Any of your own favorite beads
