A. Karen Alfke
Karen is a professional knitting instructor and designer living in the Pacific Northwest. She learned to design sweaters when she learned to knit in Germany and has made it her mission to "make more independent knitters" through her line of 'Unpatterns.'

Renee' Barnes
Renee' (aka Crochet Renee') is a professional crochet designer with her work appearing in Crochet Magazine, Crochet World and the popular series, "One Skein Wonders" books published by Storey Publishing. She has been a handspinner for four years, and demonstrates at public historical re-enactments and events as well as teaching spinning and crochet at her local yarn store. She has also taught crochet at Arkansas State University.

Cat Bordhi

Alice Borge
Alice is a graduate of North Carolina State University with degrees in Textile Technology and Textile Management. After doing research in the world of medical textiles, she became a pastry chef working in leading restaurants across the country. She has owned Old Town Needlework in Scottsdale, Arizona for seven years.

Gwen Bortner
Gwen has been teaching since 1986 and is a recognized name at national venues such as TNNA, Stitches and TKGA since 2003. Beginning early in childhood, Gwen has dabbled in all of the various needlearts with knitting finally taking center stage during her college years. Prior to opening Knitability, LLC (www.knitability.com), Gwen spent nearly 20 years as a business consultant, trainer and executive in the computer technology arena. Laura Bryant
Laura discovered her passion for fibers at an early age when she began knitting. A BFA from the University of Michigan concentrated in art textiles and led to work in retail knitting and as a sales representative. In 1984 Laura founded her company, Prism Arts, Inc. Laura’s design excellence has been recognized with grants from both the NEA and Florida. She has published more than 50 books for Prism and has been featured in magazines such as Knitter’s, Love of Knitting and Vogue Knitting. Laura has written four books for Martingale, Inc.; three co-authored with Barry Klein.

Amy Bunger
As a shop owner and teacher for over 30 years and wholesaler for over 10 years, Amy Bunger knows all sides of this business. Christine Bylsma
Chris retired from a career in marketing communications and advertising to pursue her artistic passion, knitting and texture play, at home in Madison, WI. Instead, she is having a wonderful time teaching workshops coast to coast (and beyond) for TNNA, retail shops, guilds and conferences and has her own line of knitting patterns available only through retail yarn shops (www.chrisbylsmadesigns.com). Noted for her Crayon Box Jacket, wearable classic designs with a contemporary flair and her love of color, Chris' approach to knitting is that the process should be just as enjoyable as the end product and designs with that in mind.

Luana Campbell
As head finisher at Needlework Unlimited in Minneapolis, MN for more than 25 years, Luana has seen most of the needlework challenges that can present themselves. She has used these experiences to learn and improve her finishing skills. Luana has developed new finishing techniques for customers as well as for needlepoint designers. For ten years she was a volunteer textile conservation technician at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts working on the conservation of historical textiles.

Lily Chin
Lily is an internationally famous knitter and crocheter who has worked in the yarn industry for over 25 years as a designer, instructor and author of books on knitting and crochet. She has created garments for the collections of designers from Ralph Lauren to Diane von Furstenberg. Her work has been on the backs of celebrities and super models. She was named a “Master Knitter” by Vogue Knitting International. She is regularly cited in media across the U.S. including the Late Show with David Letterman, CNN, the NY Times and more. Lily has lived in New York City all her life and has been involved in some aspect of the fashion industry since age 13.

Leslie Cumming
Leslie’s passion for the needlearts, knitting, fashion and design along with her 15 years in the world of business and consumer marketing, public relations, new media and technical editing has driven her to create a business that helps knitwear designers, retailers, needlearts organizations and manufacturers tell their story and drive business. Working and teaching part-time in her local yarn shops (LYS’s) in San Francisco and Portland has proven that a lifelong passion for marketing, knitting and teaching can be simultaneously integrated.

Angela Davis
Angela , BSBM, of A Little Bird With Yarn Knitting Classes and Workshops is a CYCA certified knitting instructor, a crocheter, spinner, stitcher, and general needlecrafts enthusiast with 20 years of professional experience in marketing and brand management. In addition to establishing and maintaining brands and marketing merchandise for major rock and roll bands during her tenure in the music business, Angela teaches knitting classes in yarn shops, for groups and guilds, and conducts workshops at fiber festivals and conferences. Ruth has been working in the needlework field since 1980. She has managed retail shops and taught classes for many different levels of students in the U.S. and England. She currently lives in Northern Virginia and teaches at Needlewoman East, Waste Knot Needlepoint and Needles in the Haymarket.

Edie Eckman
Edie has her hands in many aspects of the fiber arts--teaching, writing, designing and editing. Her knit and crochet designs have appeared in many magazines, yarn company publications, pattern leaflets and books. She is the author of Turn the Corner Crochet Borders (2010), Learn to Knit Socks!, The Crochet Answer Book and Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs. Edie travels extensively teaching at conventions, shops and guilds.

Jared Flood
Jared is a New York based knitwear designer and photographer. Jared holds an MFA from the New York Academy of Art and travels the country teaching traditional handknitting technique and garment construction. His design work and writings have been featured in Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Knit.1 Magazines, and Spin Off (Interweave Press) as well as various other print and online sources. Jared’s photography has been featured in numerous online and book publications. He is the creator of www.brooklyntweed.net and author of Made in Brooklyn - a collection of original handknitting designs distributed by Classic Elite Yarns.

Carol Gantz

Sharon Garmize
Sharon G has been teaching needlework since the 70's. Art was not her college major, but it was and is her lifetime love. Sharon is self-taught in the modern techniques in needlepoint and has been known to provide detailed stitch guides making it easy for her students to learn advanced techniques. At the age of three, her grandmother placed a piece of linen and a needle in her hands. The fascination of the needlearts has always been a part of her life. Education is never ending and as Sharon says, "Imagine all those beautiful embroideries trapped inside those wonderful threads."

Antje Gillingham
Originally from Germany, bestselling designer and author, Antje Gillingham, learned to knit at age eight but truly fell in love with the craft about five years ago, when she took the plunge and opened The Knitting Nest in Maryville, TN. In 2007, she was able to realize her dream of combining her two passions for knitting and writing into one by publishing the bestselling Knitting Circles Around Socks (currently in its 7th printing). Her second book, Knitting More Circles Around Socks, followed in 2009 and is already well on its way to becoming another smashing hit.

Chris Hanner

Deborah Jarchow
When Deborah discovered weaving in 1996, her life-long love of fiber, texture and color came together and she soon became a full-time weaver. She has created hundreds of garments and accessories for sale and her work has appeared in many national and international exhibits. She has won numerous awards and writes about weaving. Since 2004 she has been an Artist-in-Residence, a teacher and weaver at Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo, CA, where she was instrumental in developing the Fiber Art Studio. Deborah gives programs and teaches workshops for conferences, guilds, shops and fiber groups.

Robin King
Robin studied needlepoint for years with Amy Bunger and now teaches and writes custom stitch guides for Amy's customers nationally. Robin has a degree in Prosthetics and worked for 27 years building custom prosthetic devices until her love for the textile design called her into service. She has won ribbons for her excellence in needlepoint and continues to lead her students into exploring the excitement of the modern needlepoint creations. Robin is producer and part owner of Pet Project Video, which films "How'd You Do That?" series of needlepoint DVDs. She also designs and manages Websites.

Barry Klein
Barry is the owner of Trendsetter Yarns and has been teaching at TNNA for the past 20 years. Barry currently teaches for TKGA and Stitches and travels around North America teaching classes in his customers' stores. Barry is one of the designers for his company, Trendsetter Yarns.

Patricia Parra
Patricia has been involved with needlework since she was 6 years old, although needlepoint has been her passion for the last 9 years. She fell in love with silk gauze work about 3 years ago. While stitching this project she soon realized that using decorative stitches to embellish the design added another dimension to the work. She soon found herself designing her own. Some of her silk gauze pieces have been featured in Needlepoint Now magazine. She also contributes articles for the Basics column of the magazine. Patricia also offers her clients stitch guide designs for painted canvases. She teaches classes at home in San Francisco and throughout Northern California.

Jane has been involved in weaving for over 30 years. She is the former editor of Handwoven magazine and the author of several weaving books including Time to Weave. Wilhelmine Peers
Leaving Math, Physics, Computer Sciences, Adult Education and Psychology degrees behind, they all formed the next evolution, designing and teaching knitwear, crocheting, sewing. Wilma owned a studio for many years that influences the skills she applies to her exploration of the creative process.

Shay Pendray
Shay, certified in canvas work by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, is a teacher, lecturer, designer, host of the long running PBS TV show, Needle Arts Studio; author of four books; past owner of retail shop; a production company and manufactures and distributes needlework products. Currently one of the hosts on the PBS TV show Knitting Daily TV. Shay has studied Japanese Embroidery for over 18 years. She has had the privilege of studying with four different Sensi (teachers) in Japan. Shay has had the honor to study with Kiju Funkuda, Living National Treasure of Japanese Embroidery, in Japan. She was the driving force in bringing Japanese Embroidery to the United States and has many students in this technique from around the world. Rosalie Peters Bourque
Rosalie is a designer, author and teacher. She has created many needlework designs for every taste and budget. The designer has authored and co-authored numerous booklets and pamphlets on needlepoint for basic, intermediate and advanced needlepoint, bargello, pulled thread, creative stitchery and cross-stitch. She has specialized in traditional designs and antique adaptations. Rosalie started designing needlepoint in 1970 and began operating as Shariane Designs in 1971. For five years, this company was the primary supplier of needlepoint to Bonwit Teller as well as numerous shops across the country. She has lectured nationally and has sponsored needlepoint seminars in Asheville, North Carolina where she spends the summer. Rosalie is a member of the American Needlepoint Guild and Embroiderer's Guild of America. She was listed in the 1981 and 1982 editions of "Who's Who of American Women."

Margaret Radcliffe
Margaret is the author of the bestselling Knitting Answer Book and The Essential Guide to Color Knitting Techniques. She publishes her knitting designs under the name Maggie's Rags. Margaret enthusiastically teaches everything from beginning knitting to garment design and is acclaimed for her ability to help all knitters to become independent and creative. Her many teaching venues include the John C. Tracey has a combined 50 years experience in fiber arts and technology. With a formal background in Computer and Information Science and an MBA, she has been involved with business applications and the Internet since the early 1990’s. Today, she combines her love of technology with her love of knitting, crocheting and needlepoint by offering technology consulting services to small and medium sized business and teaching at her local LYS; Ewe and I in Narberth, PA. Both her knitting and technology clients agree that she successfully demonstrates complex technical (computer and fiber-related) concepts in simple, easy to understand and adopt terms.

Julia started stitching at the age of four and has not stopped since. She also designed and taught classes for ANG, EGA, Needlepointers, Destination Dallas Market and TNNA Market. She has been teaching for the past 15 years since she and her mother opened Key Stitches. Along with stitching and teaching, Julia stays busy writing stitch guides for designers and clients. Cynthia Thomas
Cindy as a child loved to play with scraps in her grandparent's tailor shop and out of this grew a love of all things needlework. She learned to embroider at the age of six and begin teaching needlework while in high school. She currently teaches classes at the Yarn Barn of San Antonio and Chaparral in Houston, Texas. She has over 125 commercially available stitch guides and has written hundreds of custom stitch guides.

A successful retail needlepoint store owner for 11 years at Needlepoint Alley in North Palm Beach, Florida. She has a bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education and a master's degree in Education from Framingham State College in Massachusetts. For over 20 years, Kathy has taught Home Economics Education at the high school level in the Boston area. In her retail career, she has faithfully attended trade shows twice a year.

Laurie Walden
Laurie began her needlework at a young age working with her grandmother on all sorts of projects. She has been a longtime teacher locally. Her passion for stumpwork and ribbon embroidery is contagious. Laurie, her husband Pat and daughter Hayley live in Houston, Texas. She is currently teaching at Chandail Needlework and enjoys training with her labs.

Susan Wolcott
As Director of Events and Operations, Susan Wolcott brings a managerial and operational background to all operations of Y2Knit, including events, wholesaling and the Y2Knit yarn shop and Web site. Susan’s background includes a degree in organizational learning, working as a life coach and serving as Marketing Director for startups--all contributing to some innovative and unique views on managing a business.
