TT202-Knit To Flatter and Fit
Homework: 1. Dress in something close fitting. (We need to see your real silhoutte. You may wear only lingerie, or you may add a bodysuit, a leotard or tights. But do wear supportive lingerie.) 2. Standing straight with arms only slightly away from your side and feet together, have someone take a straight-on, full body (head-to-toe) photo of you. (Have the photo fill the screen as much as possible.) 3. Print the photo onto plain paper (as large a print as possible is probably best). 4. Trace your outline only with a heavy black pen. You may bring more than one copy of your outline to class.
Supplies: lightweight colored paper (that you can trace your outline through), scissors, measuring tape, pencil, eraser

FT102-Borders and Buttonholes
Homework: Use non-textured, light-colored yarns. Worsted weight is best. Block both swatches. 1. Work a piece approx 4x4", in stockinette, working selvage stitches in stockinette also: change to smaller needles and finish with 1" k1 p1 rib, then bind off all stitches with needles MUCH TOO LARGE. 2. Cast on 24 stitches: work 3" in stockinette. DO EXACTLY AS WRITTEN: do not slip stitches and do not work short rows. (You are shaping a round neck, in case you wonder what is going on.) At the beginning of the next RS row, bind off 6 stitches. At the beginning of the next RS row, bind off 3 stitches. At the beginning of the next RS row, bind off 2 stitches. At the beginning of the next 3 RS rows, bind off 1 stitch. Work 8 rows straight. Bind off all stitches.

Homework: If you really cannot get to all of these, don’t worry about it. You can view a fellow student’s homework in class to follow along OR, if you know someone else who’s also taking the class, you can divvy-up the homework and each do half. A. With any worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles or appropriate size to obtain medium tension, cast on about 24 stitches. 1. work in k1, p1 rib for 2" or so. 2. work in stockinette for 2" or so. 3. work in any simple cross cable or rope cable pattern for 2" or so. 4. work sts in any eyelet/lace pattern for 2" or so. 5. work in any 2-color-pattern for 2" or so. 6. work in garter st for 2” or so, bind off. B. With any fingering weight yarn and size 2 needles (or any size to get about 7 to 8 sts to the inch), cast on 24 sts and work in stockinette for about 3", bind off. C. With any sport weight yarn and size 5 needles (or any size to get about 5 to 6 sts to the inch), cast on 20 sts and work in stockinette for about 3", bind off. D. With any chunky or bulky weight yarn and size 10 needles (or any size to get about 3 to 4 sts to the inch), cast on 15 sts and work in stockinette for about 3", bind off. E. With any worsted weight yarn, cast on 16 stitches and work in stockinette for about 2" with size 5 needles, 2" with size 8 needles, then 2" with size 10 1/2 needles, bind off.
Supplies: graph paper, maybe 8 or 10 squares to the inch; gauged or proportioned knitter's grid, any gauge; pencils (preferably in several colors) and eraser; pocket calculator; any issue of Vogue Knitting before Spring 1991 but after '84.
